THE NAME

Robespierre was the father of the French revolution… the father of modern democracy… he managed to empty the aristocrats libraries of fabulous books which were then to be hidden under the French national library in Paris, until they were released for public viewing for the first time in January 2008. Some of these copperplate prints … rather naughty in nature … are the basis of this revolutionary new interior design collection.

REVOLUTIONARY: HISTORIC PORN?

Why revolutionary? Robespierre europe’s designs are essentially based on historic porn… naughtily but nicely interpreted. Beginning with the France of the 1600ñ1700s, a historic tour of eroticism guides the direction of the collection. These sheets will enliven the most tired, restore the imagination, envigorate the longest relationships… and definately surprise friends and acquaintances.

QUALITY

Robespierre europe´s linens and other interior items are completely
concieved, and hand crafted in northern Europe. The origins of the design lie in Paris, the concept for the collection in Berlin, the hand work in northern Italy and Germany.

The 100% long staple cotton is woven, stitched and printed in northern Italy, utilising both the artisans heritage and combining it with new technologies of VAT printing. This means quality of old, now capable of bleaching and washing up to 60 degrees celcius.

THE PIONEER COLLECTION: French Naughty

The pioneer collection of this revolutionary bedtime phenomena contains European style duvet covers, pillowcases, sleek bathrobes… or fancifully called morning gowns that remind one of the film stars of the 30s… they make you feel like a naughtier version of Grace Kelly or Clark Gable.
To complement the feeling of ultimate private luxury, the collection contains a European handmade silverfox fur blanket/bedthrow, backed in Bavarian felt, drawing on a tradition existent since 1868, with the finest tan leather detailing.

And for those who wish to create a complete environment of naughtiness, Robespierre Europe`s signature dessin is available as wall-panelling: canvas stretched on frames of up to 200 × 100 cm, and perspex panels of up to 200 × 100 cm.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT

Dynamic duo Caroline Barth and Andrea Hoefl-von Löhneysen are the founders, both conceptually and otherwise, of Robespierre europe.
Barth lived between New York and Berlin. Qualified at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) she has worked as an art director in New York City at Hearst Publications and other design studios.
von Löhneysen lives in Sydney, Australia and Berlin. With a formel training in law, the better part of her working life to date has been spent in the music industry in PR and marketing.
